| SEPTEMBER 10, 2026 -- Sept. 13: 52nd Veteran of the Month Ceremony, 6PM, Grange Hall
Sept. 18: Regular Meeting, 6:30 PM, Refreshments at 6PM hosted by Jackie Martin, with the membership meeting beginning at 7:00 PM. Vice President Dawn Anstett will offer the Lecturer’s Program, Degree Education, and Grange Hall set-up. On Aug. 7th, eighteen members, including one guest and one potential new member, gathered at Riverton Grange Hall for the regular monthly meeting. All were given a tour of the kitchen renovation project area.
During the business meeting, members voted to accept Kristina Williams as a regular member of Riverton Grange. Kristina is an intern at the Barkhamsted Forks Senior Center and has gotten to know the Grange and its members through her work there. She expressed an interest in joining, completed the membership application, and attended the meeting with her stepmother/conservator. Kristina’s membership is part of our Grange’s growing outreach effort to support individuals on the autism spectrum and to provide opportunities for greater community involvement.
Chair Judy Doyle announced that Riverton Grange had been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Northwestern CT Community Foundation Doug and Janet Roberts Fund to complete our kitchen renovation project.
President Dave Roberts was asked to provide a quote for the newspaper about this latest grant and shared the following:
“Barkhamsted Seniors, serving as the fiscal sponsor for Riverton Grange No. 169, was honored to receive a generous $50,000 gift to help transform the Grange’s kitchen into a welcoming space for generations to come. Doug’s connection to Riverton Grange spanned a lifetime. His grandparents were charter members, and his mother faithfully served the Grange for more than 60 years. Doug and Janet, uncle and aunt to current President Dave Roberts, treasured the countless meals, celebrations, and friendships they shared within its walls. They understood that the kitchen has always been the heart of the Grange— a place where neighbors become friends and community is strengthened. Through this remarkable gift, Doug and Janet’s legacy will live on, ensuring that future generations can gather around the table, create lasting memories, and experience the warmth, fellowship, and community spirit that have defined Riverton Grange for more than a century.”
