| JULY 10, 2026 -- Redding Grange’s first float appeared in the Redding Memorial Day Parade on Saturday, May 23rd. There has not been a float entered into the parade in decades (most don’t even remember there being floats at all.) Everyone was SO inspired by it, there are a few other organizations talking about building their own for next year. Redding Grange received kudos from the Grand Marshall for helping to revitalize the parade.
Linda Mitchell is the Granger who organized the kids and their costumes. She is pictured with blond hair behind the young George Washington in the group of kids. We were so happy to have Redding’s first
selectwoman, Julia Pemberton with us for the event.
The building committee for the float were Ed and Cecilia Staunton, Mike and Linda Mitchell. Some of the lumber for the frame was donated by Harmony Grange. And some decorations were donated by Grange member Jane Merritt.
Granger Bill Hill pulled the float with his tractor. Grangers Victor De Masi and Jan Stranik marched behind the float with flags. Granger Roanna Metowski wore an eagle costume that she made.
