Nov. 28: No Meeting, Happy Thanksgiving to All!
On September 12, Jeff Barnes installed our slate of officers in fine style. We are always impressed with his amazing memory. At our Sept. 26 meeting we learned the difference between goldenrod and ragweed. To those of us suffering from the effects of these interesting plants on our sinuses, the difference doesn’t make much difference; but it is always nice to learn something new. Sue also passed out a list of exciting activities taking place in Connecticut in the fall. There are enough things to keep us busy every day of the week. And she gave us a fall word find in case we find ourselves with some free time.
We hold only one meeting in the months of November through February. This is due to the holidays in November and December and chancy weather in January and February. In those two months we hold our meeting on the second Friday, with the fourth one held in reserve in case of inclement weather on the second one.
The dictionaries have arrived and will soon be distributed to all the third graders in town. If any member is aware of a home-schooled third grader, please let us know so we can include them in the program. And if those pesky hurricanes forming in the Atlantic will just keep heading east, next time we’ll tell you all about optimistic October.
